Job Description

Shopify Developer

Development · Contract · Remote · New York, NY

Summary

Build, maintain, and improve our Shopify storefront. You'll partner with the Senior Product Designer to ship the experiences that turn visitors into customers.

Salary

$52,000–$88,000/year (based on ~20 hours/week, contract scope flexible).

About the Role

We're looking for an experienced Shopify developer (ideally with Shopify Plus and headless experience) to handle ongoing storefront development, app integrations, and the technical execution of new designs. This is a long-term contract relationship, not a one-off project.

What You'll Do

  • Build and maintain custom theme features in Liquid, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
  • Implement new pages, sections, and design system updates from Figma
  • Integrate and maintain third-party apps (subscription, reviews, analytics, CRO tools)
  • Build and optimize the quiz flow, checkout extensions, and account experiences
  • Monitor site speed, accessibility, and Core Web Vitals, and fix what needs fixing
  • Partner with the Senior Product Designer on technical feasibility and tradeoffs
  • Document what you build so the next person can pick it up

What We're Looking For

  • 4+ years of Shopify development experience, with at least 2 years on Shopify 2.0 / Online Store 2.0
  • Strong Liquid, JavaScript, and modern frontend skills
  • Experience with Shopify Plus, checkout extensions, or Hydrogen is a plus
  • Comfort working independently on a contract basis with regular check-ins
  • A portfolio of live stores you can point to
